RoadAbility Privacy Policy

Who we are

RoadAbility operates https://roadability.com.au. The service allows members of the public to submit reports about driving behaviour involving registered vehicles, with the aim of encouraging safer driving.

Information collected through driving reports

When you submit a driving report, RoadAbility may collect your email address, optional name, vehicle registration and state or territory, incident date and time, location, observed driving behaviour, incident description and confirmation that the report is based on your own observations.

We use your email address to verify your submission and administer the reporting service. Email verification confirms access to the email address supplied; it does not independently verify the identity of the reporter or establish that an incident occurred.

How driving reports are shared

RoadAbility may provide the relevant fleet owner with the details of a driving report, including the vehicle information, incident details, location and description supplied by the reporter.

The reporter’s name and email address are not provided to the fleet owner as part of the report. RoadAbility retains these details in its own records.

Please be aware that information included in the incident description may itself identify a person. Reporters should provide relevant factual observations and avoid including unnecessary personal information.

How we use and protect information

We use collected information to verify submissions, administer driving reports, operate and secure the website, address suspected misuse and respond to relevant enquiries.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Email verification and website security

Driving reports require email verification before they are treated as confirmed. The website also uses Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent spam and automated abuse. These services may process technical information in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

Google’s Privacy Policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Retention of information

RoadAbility retains driving reports and associated reporter contact details for two years from the date the report is submitted.

Reporter contact details, including names and email addresses, are used for email verification, administration of reports, addressing complaints or suspected misuse, and meeting applicable legal obligations.

At the end of the two-year retention period, the report and associated contact details will be securely deleted, unless retention is required or permitted for longer under applicable law.

Website security logs and other administrative records may be retained separately for as long as reasonably necessary for their intended purposes.

Access, correction and privacy enquiries

You may contact RoadAbility to ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
